The Mooring
A world that appears distant
foreign land
barges and small sailing ships
entering the harbor
requesting mooring privileges.
Strange, they seem
not like us - smiling, elated
inspired in the face of despair
though the vessel may be damaged
others come, eagerly to assist
the poor drowning victim.
Resentment, jealousy, hatred.
Reflecting on our own lives
madness, chaos, insanity
exaggerated in intensity
by the spectacle.
No!! We will not budge!
we stand defiant and ignorant
a wall of silence and fear
that none shall pass.
Few believe that acceptance
is not submission
it is understanding, enlightenment.
But collectively
fear is a formidable foe
that captures the mind
and imprisons the soul.
