I have been involved in music for many years.  When I was growing up, my mom cleaned house for guy with a hammond organ, which I played for hours whenever I was there.   Later in 5th grade I joined the concert band as a tuba player.  From 1983-1990 I played sousaphone with the Norwood Brass Firemen - I was with them when they played in the opening ceremonies for the 1984 winter olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia!  I eventually went to Crane School of music to study music education and expand my musical abilities.  I changed my major to computer science after I found out what teachers are actually paid, but continued taking piano classes out of my love for the instrument.   Since then, I plunk away at the piano occasionally and and jam out with friends when I get a chance.

Find below some MP3 files of my performances.  To listen to these tunes, you'll need an MP3 player.   Just click on the file to download and play it.

Title Size Length Author(s) Performers Notes
Dry Heaves (1986) 4.2M 5:57 Darin LaGarry & Jon Hunkins Darin - guitar & bass, Jon - drums & keyboards A fun, yet crude heavy rock number that Jon and I knocked out one evening in his basement.  We laid down the guitar and drums in one pass and then added the keyboard and bass in another pass.
I Need a Sitcom (1990) 2.5M 3:32 Darin LaGarry Darin - keyboard I sequenced this on a cheap-o Casio keyboard.  It just sounds like it should be a theme to a sitcom.
Cartwheels (1990) 1.3M 1:50 Darin LaGarry Darin - keyboard Another Casio sequence.  This one feels like an aerobics class.
She Was (1990) 1.1M 1:35 Darin LaGarry Darin - keyboard Yet another Casio sequence.  It reminded me of a sad scene in a movie where two lovers were parting.
Scarlet Ladder (1992) 1.8M 2:36 Darin LaGarry / Grateful Dead Darin - keyboard Done on the Casio, probably my best sequence on this keyboard.  My interpretation of "Scarlet Bagonias" from the Grateful Dead.
Other One (1993) 4.2M 5:53 Grateful Dead Darin - keyboard, Joe Mayerfeld - bass, Jay Leiser - lead guitar, ??? - rhythm guitar Taken from a jam session with some fellow deadhead friends.  I didn't know the tune very well, but the simple progression and mode made it easy to make up something that worked.  I really like Jay's spaced -out guitar solos!
Leaving (2000) 2.2M 3:04 Darin LaGarry Darin - keyboard I sequenced this on our Roland digital piano.  Its kind of new-age jazz and totally improvised.  I just hit the record button one night while I was practicing.
Empty House (2000) 2.0M 2:56 Darin LaGarry Darin - keyboard Another digital piano sequence.  This piece has a more traditional feel to it.  I wrote it after Jodi & the kids had left the house for an excursion up north to see family.  Its a reflection of the quiet and emptiness of the house.
Gastante (2000) 2.6M 3:41 Darin LaGarry Darin - keyboard Another digital piano sequence.  This one has an interesting melody and development section.  I wrote it for my wife whom I affectionately refer to as "Gastante".
